Warming Winter Breakfast Suggestions

For delicious and nutritious breakfast alternatives, lower in sugar and higher in protein and essential fats than most muesli or cereals you could try these suggestions:
The Seed of Life – Naked Blend (available on line or from certain health food shops)
Although it still does contain some grains, it is generally lower in grains and higher in nuts and seeds than most cereal blends.
Or aternatively you can make your own blends using ingredients such as:
LSA (linseed, sunflower seed and almond meal), ground hazlenuts, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, raw unsalted nuts, and shredded coconut.
Here is a recipe suggestion:
1/4 cup flaxseed meal
3/4 cup almond meal
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup chopped dried apple
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla essence
method:
mix together all ingredients in a large bowl. makes 4 serves (cups)
keep:
store in an airtight container in fridge.
serve:
soak one cup of mixture in breakfast bowl with water or malt free soymilk overnight. Lightly heat in saucepan or add warm malt free soy milk to serve.
protein count per serve: 20g
